HR Indiana Conference Celebrates 25 Years

Fuzion’s Human Resources team took full advantage of excellent training and inspiring keynote speakers at the HR Indiana Annual Conference 2019 held at the JW Marriott & Indiana Convention Center from August 11 to August 14. This is the largest SHRM conference in the Midwest drawing over 1600 attendees and 175 exhibitors. The conference provides educational and networking opportunities for early career HR Generalists, as well as HR professionals at the peak of their careers.

This years’ conference featured many well-known and engaging keynote speakers, including:

  • Michael J., Fox, Award-winning actor, author, film producer and founder of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

  • Allison Melangton, Senior Vice President of Hulman Motorsports Corporation

  • Paul Sinclair, Partner at Ice Miller and co-founder and Leadership Director of UPSTREAM PRINCIPLES, LLC

  • Cy Wakeman, International speaker and New York Times best-selling author

General sessions and concurrent tracks focused on hot topics for HR professionals, legal challenges and strategies, organizational and leadership development, and associate engagement. These sessions and tracks encourage attendees to think about strengths of and improvement opportunities for their own organizations, as well as their own professional growth.

Mary Miller, Fuzion’s human resources director expressed that, “Michael J. Fox’s inspiring message on hope and positivity left me with such a good feeling and a lot to contemplate. He stated that life comes down to choice and circumstance. So, it is our choice on how we handle our circumstances whether they are in our control or not. It’s good to remember that and apply it to how I deal with challenges in my position and in my personal life.”

Moira Shaw, payroll and HR generalist at Fuzion attended a break out session with Karl Ahlrichs, senior consultant for Gregory & Appel, focusing on ethics in a modern HR world. Moira shared, “I found it interesting to see how people responded to hypothetical situations that were given to them to handle. When asked to pair up with someone and discuss a situation, there were many people that didn’t discuss the situation and made a decision based on an automatic response.”

Fuzion is thankful for the manner in which their HR team approaches their responsibilities and the training and teambuilding opportunities they create for associates throughout the year. Attendance at the HR Indiana Conference helps Fuzion’s HR professionals stay on top of current trends and to use this inspiration to keep Fuzion associates engaged in the roles they perform for our clients and policyholders.
